Conformation: varies, but the best conformation is characterized by a refined, intelligent head; elegant neck; well-sloped shoulders; short, strong body with great depth through the girth; strong muscular hindquarters with well-set tail; clean hard legs with well let down hocks and a minimum of 20 cm of bone beneath the knee.
Height: Variable. They may be as tall as 17hh, or as small as 14.2hh. Usually 16-16.2hh
Color: All solid colors, the most common colors are chestnut, bay, and brown. White markings are permissable.
Disciplines: thoroughbred racing, show ring, steeplechase, showjumping
Tidbit: The Godolphin Arabian was one of the three most prominent sires in the development of the thoroughbred. He was responsible for founding the Matchem line.
Famous Thoroughbreds: Man O'War - racehorse and stud; Secretariat - racehorse, Horse Of The Year, Triple Crown Winner; Seattle Slew - racehorse, triple crown winner
